WordPress is free, but that doesn’t mean you won’t spend money building your website. Web hosting, commercial themes, and plugins all cost money. Add some graphic design work and occasional assistance from a freelancer, and the costs start to add up. Like any serious business endeavor, your website needs a formal budget. This lesson gives you the information you need to create your budget, along with a sample spreadsheet.

Kirk,
Just had to express my thanks for this section of the course & all the great tools. I am planning two completely different websites for different goals and purposes & these tools will help keep ideas organized for each website.
Although I do have the Microsoft Office programs, I also use OpenOffice.org & prefer that to Google docs.
Thanks again,
Janet
Janet,
Happy to hear this is working out so well for you. While I hate proprietary file formats, Excel seems to be the most widely supported. If you run into any problems with any of the planning documents just let me know.
