Move a WordPress site from one location to another can be a bit tricky. Because WordPress content and settings are stored in a database there’s a bit more involved than just transferring files between servers.
In this tutorial I demonstrate how to use the free Duplicator plugin to move any WordPress website. For example, can use the plugin to move a site you’re developing in Desktop Server to your web hosting account. Or you could use the plugin to move a WordPress site from one web host to another.
When the process is complete an identical copy of your website will be up and running in a new location. Duplicator eliminates the hassle of fiddling with the MySQL database, moving files from multiple folders, and fine tuning settings once everything is moved over. With Duplicator the process is automatic.
